D&D 4th Edition
So Wizards have announced 4th Edition Dungeons and Dragons, and used this little film (and a couple of example videos) to plug the new version.
Initial thoughts?
On the plus side, if they make D&D more like Star Wars SAGA Edition - it's much more user friendly, and NOOBIE friendly too. It's not perfect in the accessibility stakes, but it's a great improvement on the other Wizards books, and a great way to get people into the hobby.
On the negative side, they've advertised the game with (a) students - why aren't they targeting new players, like kids? and (b) people obviously need computer access to play - aren't we supposed to be getting people away from computer screens and interacting more socially? At least, that's the positive message of their last campaign...
We'll have to see.

According to that ad, the game has been getting progressively more complicated and byzantine since its inception, and the trend implied doesn't inspire me to try out 4E. Of course, I don't play D&D anyway, so let them do what they want. I'll use HARP for fantasy, like I do now.
